A little about me

I’m Jessica, and I’ve been tutoring for over 7 years, working with students of different ages, abilities and confidence levels.

I have a degree in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Nottingham, and alongside tutoring I work in a technical and project-based career. A huge part of what I do, both professionally and as a tutor, is taking something that feels complicated and making it easier to understand.

I’m not the kind of tutor who wants to sit and work through a worksheet for an hour just for the sake of it. If something isn’t clicking, I’ll explain it differently, find an example that makes more sense, draw it out, turn it into a question or approach it from another angle until we get there.

My lessons are friendly and relaxed, but they still have structure. We’ll work on the areas that actually need attention, build confidence as we go and make sure the student understands why something works rather than just memorising an answer.

I can set homework or extra practice between lessons where useful, and I’m always happy to keep parents and guardians updated on what we’ve covered, how things are progressing and anything I think we should focus on next.

No two students learn in exactly the same way — so I don’t tutor them as if they do.

How I can help

Tutoring can look completely different depending on the student. Some students need regular weekly support. Some understand the subject but lose marks in exams. Some have one topic that just refuses to make sense. Others need someone to push them further because they’re capable of more.

That’s why I tailor lessons around the person in front of me rather than following the same plan for everyone.

Send me a quick message with the student’s year group, subject, what they would like help with and any upcoming exams or goals. If you don’t know exactly where the problem is yet, that’s completely fine — we can work that out together.

We tailor the lessons

Lessons are built around the student’s needs, learning style and goals. That might mean going back over foundations, working alongside current school topics, targeting weaker areas or pushing ahead towards a higher grade.

We keep building

I’ll keep track of what we’ve covered and where we need to go next. Where useful, I can set homework or practice between sessions and provide parents or guardians with updates on progress and areas to focus on.

Small-group tutoring

A more affordable option for students studying at a similar level who would benefit from learning together.

Online lessons

Lessons can be delivered through Microsoft Teams or Zoom — whichever you prefer. Resources can be shared on screen and worked through together during the lesson.

In-person lessons
